Kerala Blasters Ban: Kerala Blasters Super Cup: Kerala Blasters FC are set to play the Hero Indian Super Cup tournament despite the All India Football Federation (AIFF) issuing sanctions on them. The Kerala Blasters’ request for a replay has reportedly been denied by the AIFF disciplinary committee. After Sunil Chhetri scored a contentious goal against Bengaluru in their ISL Playoffs match that was approved by referee Crystal John, Ivan Vukomanovic and Co. left the field. Kerala Blasters will face “forfeit of the match” and a “fine of at least Rs. 6 lakh.” according to the rules. But things don’t end there for the Blasters. The rule states that major offenses may result in “disqualification from a competition in progress and/or exclusion from a future competition.”
Ivan Vukomanovic and co demanded a replay in a letter to the AIFF after the match, which was awarded to Bengaluru FC. Kerala left the field in protest of Sunil Chhetri’s quick free-kick goal. They refused to play in the remaining 24 minutes of extra time. They also demanded that John be barred from refereeing in the future.

In Kerala, the Hero Super Cup will be played at Kochi, Manjeri, and Kozhikode. All ISL teams and the 2022–23 I-League champion will be given direct access into the competition’s group stage. Teams from the I-League will compete in the qualification rounds to determine the four remaining slots. The Hero Super Cup will start on April 3 in Kerala with the qualifying matches for the teams that didn’t advance to the direct qualifying round. The 16-team competition will be held from April 8 through April 25.

Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi are the three locations that will be hosting Supercup. Payyanad Stadium hosted the Santosh Trophy last year, and Corporation Stadium is home to Gokulam Kerala FC. The Kochi stadium will serve as the site of Kerala Blasters’ home games.
