Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba handed four-year ban after failing doping test

With the Frenchman set to turn 31 next month, speculation arises about the potential conclusion of his illustrious career.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has received a four-year ban following a failed drug test. According to Repubblica Sport, Pogba has been banned for doping violations. The provisional suspension was imposed in September 2023 after his initial sample revealed the presence of DHEA, a substance known to elevate testosterone levels.

Subsequently, in October 2023, confirmation of his failed drug test arrived when his B sample yielded a positive result. The incident occurred after Pogba, a former Manchester United star, underwent random testing following Juventus’ match against Udinese in August.

Despite being an unused substitute in Juve’s 3-0 victory, he became subject to scrutiny. The report indicates that the prosecution dismissed claims of accidental ingestion of the substance, a pivotal argument countered by Pogba’s legal team, which rejected the plea deal.
