Juventus considering Paul Pogba’s contract termination, what are potential destinations?

Paul Pogba's future at Juventus remains uncertain as the club weighs financial commitments and the possibility of contract termination following his reduced suspension.

French footballer and World Cup winner Paul Pogba might terminate his contract with Juventus FC. The Italian giants still have the option to terminate Pogba’s contract, despite his suspension being reduced. According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Paul Pogba might leave Juventus FC in the coming days after the end of his ban.

Pogba failed a doping test after Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Udinese in August 2023. Initially banned for four years, his suspension was cut to 18 months, allowing Pogba to resume training in January and return to competitive football by March. However, his future at Juventus remains uncertain as the club weighs its financial commitments and potential repercussions.

Juventus’ financial concerns

Despite his eligibility to play in 2025, Juventus faces financial challenges with Pogba’s return. His contract reportedly earns him €8 million annually, plus €2 million in bonuses. Since his suspension, Pogba has been earning just €2,000 per month, but his full salary will resume once he returns. This could pose a significant strain on the club’s budget.

Possible contract termination due to breach

Italian media have reported that Juventus could still terminate Pogba’s contract due to a breach, citing his failed doping test. If the breach is confirmed, Juventus could end the contract without any financial repercussions. If not, they may negotiate a mutual termination to avoid long-term financial strain.

Potential next destinations for Pogba

Meanwhile, clubs in Saudi Arabia and the MLS have emerged as potential suitors for Pogba. Former teammate Patrice Evra has also suggested that Pogba should consider a move to Marseille under Roberto De Zerbi, opening the door to a fresh chapter in the midfielder’s career.
