Real Madrid faced competition from various clubs
Real Madrid is reportedly close to securing the signing of Jude Bellingham, beating out competition from Manchester City and Liverpool, both of whom were previously interested in the young English midfielder.
Liverpool distanced themselves from the race in April.
According to Bild, Real Madrid is willing to offer Bellingham an enormous £17.4m-per-year (£334,000-a-week) contract, making him the second-highest earner at the club, after Eden Hazard.
It is expected that Real Madrid will pay around £130m to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. If the move does go ahead, Bellingham will likely want to finish his time at Dortmund on a high note.
In fact, he recently scored two goals in a 6-1 win over Wolfsburg, which helped Dortmund close the gap to Bayern Munich to just one point with three games remaining.

Eden Terzic refuses to comment
Although negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid over Jude Bellingham’s transfer appear to be at an advanced stage, Bellingham’s manager, Eden Terzic, has stated that he has not received any information from the player about a possible move.
Back in March, he said: ‘With all respect for Jude and his performance, we are answering these kinds of questions since he arrived (in 2020).
‘Before he chose to join us, he had opportunities to join the Premier League. There was loads of interest from top-flight clubs.
‘But he chose to join us because he knows it can be the perfect step for him. I think we’ve proven it both ways. He’s helping us a lot. But we as a club are helping him and his career as well.‘
