The Golden Boy Awards 2023 were announced on Friday with Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Lamine Yamal among the recipients. The awards cap off the season of Football awards which started with the gala Ballon d’Or ceremony last month.
The Golden Boy is an annual award given to the best player under 21 years of age. It was first given in 2003 by the Italian magazine ‘Tuttosport’, with journalists taking part in the selection process. Past winners include Wayne Rooney in 2004, Lionel Messi in 2005 and Pogba in 2013. Last year’s winner was Barcelona forward Gavi.
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham won the Golden Boy Award 2023 for his blistering performance since joining the Los Blancos. The England international has scored 13 goals and provided four assists for Real Madrid, establishing himself as one of the mainstays of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was voted the Golden Player Man Award 2023. The panel included former footballing legends such as by Matthäus, Stoichkov, Shevchenko, Verón, Nedved, Fabregas. The Norway international hit the ground running since joining Pep Guardiola’s side. Haaland scored over 50 goals last season, helping City win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal won The Youngest Award at Golden Boy 2023. The award was specially dedicated, to reward the youngest player ever to be on the podium of the Golden Boy. Lamine Yamal has had a breakthrough season for Barcelona, breaking into the first team at the age of 16 years. He has scored one goal for Barca but has impressed all with his swift gameplay and on-the-ball intelligence. If Yamal keeps on his impressive form, he may very well be able to win the Golden Boy Year 2024.
