Italy vs Ukraine Live: Euro Qualifiers LIVE – ITA vs UKR LIVE – Ukraine face Italy in a battle to book a spot in next year’s Euro 2024 finals. Italy are in 2nd place and Ukraine are in 3rd place with the same points. Azzurri have a greater head-to-head stat against the Blue and Yellows. As a result, Italy can get away with a draw in this match. However, to qualify for the finals at this stage, Ukraine will have to win at any cost. Both teams will have their chances in the play-offs even if they don’t win.
Italy lost both matches in the Euro qualifiers campaign against England and drew against North Macedonia back in September. These 3 matches set them back to 13 points in 2nd place. Azzurri are the reigning champions as they won Euro 2020.
However, even so, their record in the World Cup has been disappointing, to say the least. Since they became the World Champions back in 2006, they were knocked out from the 2010 and 2014 group stages. They couldn’t even qualify for the last two World Cup in 2018 and 2022.
Ukraine didn’t qualify for the 2022 World Cup either. However, they reached the quarter-finals of the Euro 2020 where they were knocked out by England after they were defeated by a 4-0 margin. They are currently on the same points as Italy, but they lost 2-1 in their last meeting in September.
Hence, they don’t have the upper hand going into this match and will have to win to qualify for the Euro 2024 finals. However, even if they lose, they will have another chance through the Nations League B play-off path. Similarly, if Italy lose, they will get another chance to qualify through the Nations League A play-offs.

Italy Team News
- The coach will be tempted to field the same starting XI that took to the field against North Macedonia and defeated them by a 5-2 margin last Friday. However, that will depend on all the players staying fit during the training sessions leading up to the game.
- Juventus forward Federico Chiesa netted twice for Azzurri in their last match. He should be retaining his position on the left hand side. Additionally, coach Spalletti should also start Giacomo Raspadori and Domenico Berardi to help Chiesa in the final third.
- Giacomo Bonaventura from Fiorentina, Jorginho from Arsenal, and Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan were in charge of manning the midfield. The trio should retain their position in this match. However, if the coach wanted to bring in some fresh legs, he will have the options to go for Davide Frattesi and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Ukraine Team News
- La Liga table-toppers Girona’s star forward Artem Dovbyk should be leading the attack from the tip of the attack line. Dovbyk has 7 international goals to his name. He is also the top goalscorer for Girona this term having scored 7 goals in 13 appearances.
- Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea should also be a part of the attack line. The coach could also use Shakhtar Donetsk defender Yukhym Konoplya on the rather high up position on the right side to provide some protection.
- Captain Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal should start at his regular place in the midfield. The coach should also feature Illya Zabarnyi fro Bournemouth and Vitalii Mykolenko from Everton beside their captain to help out manning the midfield.
