ISL Season 8: The organizers of the Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday announced the postponement of Match No. 63 between Hyderabad FC and Jamshedpur FC. Follow all the ISL 2021-22 LIVE Updates only on InsideSport.IN

The game was scheduled to be played on Monday evening at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. “The decision has been taken in consultation with the League’s medical team taking into account the inability of Jamshedpur FC to field a team,” stated an official statement. The League will look to rearrange the fixture to a later date.

“The health and safety of all personnel in various bubbles remains our priority, and the League & Clubs will continue to monitor the situation and act accordingly,” stated the statement further.

This news comes in after yesterday’s match between league toppers Kerala Blasters and defending champions Mumbai City got postponed. Till now four matches have been postponed and there are chances of more games getting rescheduled with the rising COVID-19 cases. A lot of teams are isolating and have not trained for a few days so it is tough on the players and the staff to get up and running suddenly with the games coming thick and fast.

Ahead of the game Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle highlighted how the players have not trained for the last six days and he is concerned about their welfare and the injuries that can occur in the process. The players were isolating and were not allowed to train as a precautionary measure to curb the rising COVID-19 cases.

“None of us have trained for the past six days,” Owen Coyle said. “Obviously, because of precautionary measures taken with respect to covid, we have not been allowed onto the training field. So, my worry will always be players and their welfare in terms of injuries, that’s a huge concern for me. When you train, you are in good condition to play the game and is important to avoid injuries.

“After the East Bengal match, the following day we did our recovery session together and the next day was a day off. On the day off, we had one or two high temperatures. With that in mind as a club we put ourselves into quarantine as a precaution and that meant we haven’t trained for six days. That being said, we have to make sure if and when the game comes about we are at our very best and give everything we have to win a tough game,” Coyle added on the adversities of quarantine and not being able to train.

With the cases rising and multiple teams struggling with increasing COVID-19 cases, the organizers of the Indian Super League will have to come to a decision. They have already rescheduled three games in as many days and the upcoming matches will also get rescheduled by the looks of it.
