Hyderabad FC: The Hyderabad outfits were one of the most dominating teams throughout the tournament. They finished second on the shield by achieving 38 points, just behind Jamshedpur FC. The goal-hungry side also scored the most number of goals registering 43 goals in the shield.
Hyderabad FC won a total of 11 matches, drew 5, and lost 4 games of the total 20 games in the group stage. The side also has a good defensive record, as they were the second-least in conceding goals (23).

Bartholomew Ogbeche of Hyderabad FC is the current highest scorer of the season with 17 goals. He also is the highest goal scorer in the history of the tournament with 52 goals from 76 games.
Hyderabad FC played their semi-finals against giants ATK Mohun Bagan and pulled off a surprise victory over the Mariners. A first leg 3-1 was enough for the team, despite losing the second leg 1-0, ultimately winning the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Kerala Blasters: One of the most matured and improved teams of this season has been the Kerala Blasters. The team finished fourth in the shield standings and pulled off a remarkable win against Shield winners Jamshedpur FC in the semis.
Out of the 20 group stage games that the team played, Kerala won 9, drew 7, and lost 4 games. In this process, they scored 34 goals and conceded 24 goals. Kerala Blasters have often depended on their star performers like Adrian Luna who have scored 5 goals and assisted 7 in this season. The Kerala outfits would also bank on Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Sahal Abdul Samad among others to perform well in the finals.

Kerala Blasters delivered the sucker punch to Jamshedpur FC in the first leg which saw the Kerala side emerging victorious by a scoreline of 1-0. The second leg followed in a similar fashion as Kerala scored another to make the aggregate 2-0. However, Jamshedpur pulled one back, but a resolute defense from Kerala was able to handle the onslaught from the Men of Steel to seal their place in the finals.
