ISL 2023-24 Live Streaming reportedly on Jio Cinema

According to reports, Jio Cinema will offer ISL 2023-24 live streaming, wity Reliance-backed Viacom18 acquiring ISL Media rights.

Jio Cinema is reportedly set to stream the Indian Super League from 2023-24. This development comes after FSDL floated a 550 Crore tender for ISL Media Rights. We at InsideSport.IN earlier reported, that Disney Star is set to quit and Viacom18 is set to take over the rights from ISL 2023-24.

Star Sports, one of the Indian Super League’s (ISL) owners, has noticed a drop in viewership. This downturn has had an effect on their business. They initially agreed to a 10-year contract as one of the league’s owners. However, the contract is about to expire. Reliance Industries-backed Viacom18 will take control.

Reliance Industries, Viacom18’s parent firm, owns 65% of the ISL through its subsidiary FSDL. Viacom18 is making a big push into the sports broadcasting market. They paid Rs 23,758 crore for the digital rights to the upcoming IPL round.

Star Sports, which formerly held the digital and broadcast rights, will keep none. Viacom18 also obtained rights to the FIFA World Cup in 2022, the Olympic Games in 2024, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

For the first time, FSDL issued a tender for ISL broadcasting rights. Despite Star Sports’ departure, they remain convinced that there will be adequate demand. It will contribute to the wealth generated by Indian football since its eleventh edition.

The deal will last two years, from September 1, 2023 to June 15, 2025. The winning bidder will have the option of extending their rights for another three years. It will start on June 16, 2025 and end on June 15, 2028. The bid deadline is August 7, and the winning bidder will be announced on August 11. It appears like Viacom18 has finally won the rights to ISL 2023-24, which will be aired on Jio Cinema.
