There were reports suggesting rift between Krishna and Ferrando, and the former’s quotes only adds credibility to the claims. Speaking to Football Monk, he said “It was not my decision. I think it was more of the coach who wanted to play a different style and I was informed I wasn’t fitting in the style.”

ATK Mohun Bagan has parted ways with star striker Roy Krishna

Krishna has so far spent three seasons in India  – playing one season for the erstwhile ATK, and the last two for ATK Mohun Bagan following the merger of the two clubs. Overall, he has played 67 matches in Indian football, in which he has scored 39 goals.

The 34-year-old played under two managers, Antonio Lopez Habas and Juan Ferrando. On being asked about whose coaching style he preferred, Krishna said “I learned a lot and I respect them both. But I would lean more towards Habas. Because he had more success and I have worked with him for two and a half seasons. And I have just known Juan for the last few months.”

What next for Roy Krishna?

While the ATK Mohun Bagan chapter is now all but over, Krishna could return to India as a few ISL clubs are reportedly interested to acquire his services, including the Mariners’ arch-rivals, East Bengal.

Speaking about whether he will come back to India, Krishna opined “I hope so. My heart is just to play football. Besides India, my manager is also looking for opportunities in Asia and Europe. We gonna come to a decision when it is right for us.”
