The constant delay in terms of both parties failing to conclude the deal have made the fans angry. With the rest of the teams making significant transfers in the summer window, East Bengal are the only club in the ISL to have been left behind in terms of squad building.
Reports claim that Emami have wanted a majority 80% of stake in the club. East Bengal have claimed that the meeting between the parties have been delayed owing to a function scheduled to take place at Emami on 1st July.
“We have consulted our legal team after receiving the agreement from Emami Group. Our legal team then has sent their draft to the Emami Group,” East Bengal joint secretary Rupak Saha said in a statement.
“They have a social function on July 1 and I hope that we will be able to sit down together and get it done as soon as possible,” he added.
Among other things, Emami Group reportedly wants a majority stake of 80 per cent in the club.

“I can’t disclose the details but there has not been any hurdle yet. We are hopeful of reaching an agreement,” Emami Group director Aditya Agarwal told PTI.
There ars serious doubts regarding the club’s participation in the Indian Super League (ISL) if the Kolkata giants fail to negotiate a deal in time. It has been over a month since West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee arranged for an agreement between the two parties.
On the team building he said: “We will cross the bridge when it comes. We will go ahead only after we get a green signal.”
East Bengal’s outing in the ISL for the last two years have not been splendid. In 2020-21 they finished ninth while last season was worse when they were left stranded at the bottom of the points table. Things turned out to be extremely sour for East Bengal and their previous investor Sree Cements.
