The promotional video shows how football is deep-rooted in Bengali culture and how mad people of West Bengal are about the sport. The video highlights the age-old rivalry between the Mariners and the Red and Golds. The Kolkata derby which is also known as ‘Boro match’ in the local language is immense as the entire state gets divided into two. The Indian Super League has caught that sentiment and have promoted the Derby with immense passion and zeal. Football in Bengal has a different meaning and the ISL has only taken it a notch above.

In footballing terms, ATK Mohun Bagan finished second in the league phase and then reached the finals but eventually lost to Mumbai City FC. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal made it to the ISL despite a lot of problems last season. They finished ninth last season under Robbie Fowler’s stewardship and won only three matches in the entire campaign.
This season the Red and Golds have roped in head coach Manolo Diaz. There is a lot of expectation from the former Real Castilla manager as the fans hope that the Spaniard can take the century-old club to greater heights. Meanwhile, ATK Mohun Bagan are heading into the new season under the tutelage of experienced head coach Antonio Lopez Habas. The Mariners will be looking to redeem themselves after a 6-0 defeat against FC Nasaf in the AFC Cup Interzonal Semifinals. The Green and Maroons are once again tagged as one of the favourites to win the league especially due to their experienced and deep squad.
