India in FIFA World Cup? Head coach Igor Stimac reveals earnest desire

Head coach Igor Stimac has expressed his sincere wish to see the Indian Football Team compete in the FIFA World Cup as soon as possible in order to develop momentum.

For quite some time, the Indian Football Team has been the talk of the country. They have three international titles to their name. Sunil Chhetri and his teammates have also confirmed their participation in the forthcoming Asian Games. At the heart of this triumph was head coach Igor Stimac, who had overhauled the team’s whole approach, solidifying his position.

Let me make a confession, Since the World Cup draw was made public, I have been extremely restless. I am obsessed with the vision of taking India to the World Cup ” said coach Stimac, speaking to Rev Sportz.

The football squad is already preparing to fly to China for the continental competition in September.Along with the Asian Games, the Blue Tigers will compete in joint qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

They will thereafter compete in the Asian Cup in 2023. It will be a critical and challenging year for the team. Amidst it, head coach Igor Stimac expressed his earnest desire to see the country in a FIFA World Cup.

If you ask me one goal that I now have as coach, I will say it is to take the Indian senior men’s team to the World Cup. I know it is a long journey ahead and we aren’t there yet. This is my real dream, and I will do everything I can to get closer to the dream.” he added.

India’s World Cup dreams are undoubtedly unrealistic right now. Igor Stimac, on the other hand, feels that the squad will give it their best in the qualifiers. At the same time, the boss is completely committed and ‘obsessed’ with the idea of leading India to the grand finale.

“Yes, it is, and that’s why I said to you it is my dream. Every human being lives with a certain goal in mind. They pursue that goal with single-minded focus. Whether or not they achieve it, they do their best to get there. My goal, and this has now turned into an obsession of sorts with me, is to take India to the World Cup,” he said.

India is undoubtedly on the right track, but the next several months will be crucial as they participate in the Asian Games. The next FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Asian Cup will be crucial. It appears that the squad will seek to maintain the current momentum. They will continue developing in the correct manner under Stimac’s leadership.
