India Women’s football team playout 1-1 draw against Myanmar in friendly clash

The India Women’s Football Team remained winless against Myanmar yet again. The Women in Blue were held to a 1-1 draw at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. Pyari Xaxa remained in red hot form as she opened the scoring for her side. It has been an improvement for Team India who succumbed to a 2-1 loss in the previous friendly, a couple of days back.

On Friday, early in the second half, India got off to a good start. Pyari Xaxa fired shot after getting past the Myanmar goalie. But her joy was short lasted. Just two minutes later, Win Theingi Tun equalised for her home side.

In the end, India had to remain contended with a draw against a superior opponent. In the last 7 encounters between the two teams, India has failed to beat their opponents even once. India are currently ranked 67th while their opponents have a better rank of 54 in the FIFA Women’s rankings.

India came close to winning!

After being handed a 2-1 win in the previous game, Team India were desperate to win their next game. Albeit trying hard, the visitors could managed just a draw. But it was greatly boost the confidence of the girls who could etch out a result against a far better placed team.

India started the game well, coming close to open the mark multiple times. But both the sides remained resilient and secured their opponents from breaching their defenses. Ultimately, the game headed into break goalless.

But India came out strongly, as Pyari Xaxa netted home a good goal. Myanmar unfazed by the blow, quickly recovered to score for the hosts. While both teams huffed and puffed, it ended up as a stalemate in an exciting encounter.
