WTC FInal 2023: The ICC has revealed the list of match officials that will take the field for the World Test Championship Final between India and Australia at The Oval, starting June 7. Chris Gaffaney of New Zealand and Richard Illingworth of England have been selected as the on-field umpires, while Richard Kettleborough will be the TV umpire for the all-important final. Former Sri Lankan player and current umpire Kumar Dharmasena will be the fourth umpire for the game, and former West Indian captain Richie Richardson will be the match referee. Both Gaffaney and Illingworth are highly experienced at the international level and are members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires. The World Test Championship Final at The Oval will be Gaffaney’s 49th Test match, while Illingworth will be officiating his 64th Test.
This will be the second successive World Test Championship Final match for Kettleborough, who acted as the TV umpire for the 2021 World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand at Southampton as well.
The final for the WTC 2021–23 cycle between Australia and India is set to take place between June 7 and 11, with June 12 being marked as the reserve day.
