Chaotic scenes ensued at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida as the kick-off for the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia was delayed. The game, which was scheduled to begin at 5.30 AM IST was initially delayed by 30 minutes and then a further delay of 15 more minutes only to be pushed back by another 30 minutes.
The reason for the delay was overcrowding of fans at the gates of the stadium and some section of fans reportedly attempting to enter the venue without possessing tickets for the game.

Fans took to social media to call out the USA’s inability to organize football tournaments effectively. Some even went on to question how the country could host the 2026 FIFA World Cup if they couldn’t successfully organize the Copa America finals without any hinderance.

As per reports and videos that emerged on social media, fans could be seen breaking through the southwest gate at the Hard Rock stadium. This forced the southwest gate at the venue to be locked down and the kick-off to be delayed.
A second delay came 30 minutes later as security at the venue were still unable to control the situation.
