Santi Bueno, a centre back for Girona, is suspended, therefore manager Michel will be without one of his top defenders. The more attack-minded Ivan Martin or Toni Villa, who are both on the bench, are chosen to play at right wing instead of Yan Couto, a right-back. Reinier, a forward from Brazil, Ibrahima Kebe, a defensive midfielder, and David Lopez, a centre back, all still sidelined with injuries.
Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski are both unavailable for Barcelona as they complete their separate suspensions. In their place, teenage academy player Angel Alarcon was selected for the team. Since Pedri just suffered a knee injury during the midweek Copa del Rey game, he will not start against Girona.

Barcelona won 1-0 away at Girona on Saturday, increasing their advantage over the competition at the top of LaLiga to six points. On the 61st minute, Pedri scored the game’s lone goal to extend Barca’s unbeaten streak to eight games. Despite having played one more game than Carlo Ancelotti’s team, the victory put them six points ahead of their opponents in Real Madrid in second position.

Despite having a lot of possession in the first half, Barca was unable to turn it into clear-cut chances. On the 14th minute, Ousmane Dembele was able to test Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, but he made a crucial stop. Eleven minutes later, Dembele was forced off the field due to an injury.
However, the Catalan club scored on one of its few opportunities when Pedri opened the scoring on the 61st minute. The team of Xavi Hernandez moved the ball from the right flank to the left before Jordi Alba pushed Pedri’s low cross into his path, allowing him to tap it in from close range.
Arnau Martinez of Girona thought he had equalised three minutes later, but his goal was disallowed for offside. With just six goals allowed in LaLiga this season, Barca’s formidable defence stood firm as neither side posed a serious danger in the closing minutes. Just before the end of regulation, Girona manager Michel received a red card for his complaints after referee Alejandro Ruiz denied his team a free kick for a foul on Martinez.
