Gareth Bale: Real Madrid star Gareth Bale could consider retiring from Football when his contract ends in six months

Gareth Bale who will turn 33 years old in July has played 16 years of professional football with Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and his international side Wales. He will ponder whether to bring his career to a close’ when his Real Madrid contract ends in six months’ time, with result of Wales’ 2022 World Cup play-off set to decide whether he finds another club.

Gareth Bale: Could consider retiring from Football

Gareth Bale will consider retiring from football this summer should Wales fail to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The 32-year-old has made just three appearances for Real Madrid this season under Carlo Ancelotti, with his ability to play hampered by persistent injuries.

He is entering the last six months of his current deal, and there are no plans from either club or player to extend that beyond this summer. It means that Bale will become a free agent in June, but his immediate focus is on helping Wales qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Wales are in the play-offs and face a one-legged semi-final at home to Austria, and if successful they’ll welcome either Scotland or Ukraine to Cardiff to vie for a place in Qatar. According to The Athletic, if Wales fail to book their place in the Middle East for November, Bale, who captains his country, will actively consider hanging up his boots.

They report that the player has earned more than enough from his career to ensure any further move in the game would not need to be financially motivated. The report adds that, should Wales be successful, there is no guarantee that Bale would seek out a team at the highest level either, with the concentration purely on keeping fit ahead of the World Cup.
