Ex. Manchester United player Diego Forlan is all set to make his debut in professional Tennis. Forlan, who also played in Indian Super League (ISL) club Mumbai City FC, is not all set to take part in the ATP event in Uruguay. Forlan is set to make his professional tennis debut at the Uruguay Open, part of the ATP Challenger Tour. At the age of 45, he will team up with Argentine tennis player Federico Coria to participate in the doubles tournament.
Interestingly, Forlan plays tennis left-handed, contrasting with his right-footed football skills. The Uruguay Open will take place over six days, starting from November 12.

This year, Forlan has competed in over three +40 tournaments in Montevideo and has also excelled in the MT1000 in Lima as part of the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour.”

Forlan’s illustrious football career spanned more than two decades, during which he represented top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and Inter Milan. He is fondly remembered for scoring the winning goal against Fulham, securing the UEFA Europa League title for Atlético Madrid in the 2009-10 season.
In addition to his club achievements, Forlan represented Uruguay in 112 international matches. He played a pivotal role in helping his team reach the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup and clinched victory in the 2011 Copa America. The Uruguayan legend chose to hang up his boots in 2018, with his last appearance for Hong Kong-based club Kitchee.
