The Red Devils tried desperately to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford but could not, in the end. Now, Frenkie will face Man United in a 2-legged game in the Europa League. His girlfriend, Mikky Kiemeney, could not hold herself back and trolled a fan when asked about Manchester United. On her Instagram, she was asked, ‘When’s Frenkie coming to Manchester?’ 

Kiemeney replied by uploading a screenshot of Barcelona’s upcoming fixtures, pinpointing the European second leg at Old Trafford on February 23. She also responded with a message, ’23-2 I guess.’

Even though there was much speculation over the summer, De Jong has put that behind himself now. He looks settled in the midfield, alongside Pedri and Gavi. With Busquets mostly missing the game against United due to injury, more onus will be laid on Frenkie, in the role of a pivot.
