Free-agent David De Gea may retire if he doesn’t get suitable transfer offers

David de Gea was Man United's highest-paid player with a salary of £375,000-per-week. He didn't accept the pay cut salary from the new season and decided to leave the club.

Former Man United goalkeeper, David de Gea is a free agent since his departure from Old Trafford. Despite earning big value as the Man United goalkeeper, he didn’t get suitable offers in the summer transfer window. The Spaniard may think about retirement if the wait for an ideal transfer offer continues.

The Spanish keeper left Manchester United at the end of the 2022/23 season as his contract with the Premier League club expired. The Guardia reported that David de Gea is looking for a retirement option after not getting a good offer from any big club. He is unable to get a suitable deal so far. He is 32 years old and he can still look for 3-4 years now.

Meanwhile, the Spain international got some offers from big European clubs and even Saudi clubs approached with a huge amount. The 32-year-old turned down all the offers during the summer window. The European window and Saudi window have been closed now.

The Ex-Man United goalkeeper has his own priority in the future. He knows he will get a chance to play for top clubs but he won’t be a first-choice goalkeeper. The Spaniard wants to play as the main goalkeeper in the team. De Gea has been training alone and maintaining his fitness for the possible comeback.

David de Gea is also searching for titles and he wants to play for those clubs where he can win some trophies. The 32-year-old failed to win big trophies for Man United in the last 8-9 years. His last trophy was EFL Cup 2023 for his former club which came after the gap of 6 years. He was given a chance to extend his contract at Old Trafford but the club wanted to give him the contract with a pay cut.

The Spain international was Man United’s highest-paid player with a salary of £375,000-per-week. He didn’t accept the pay cut salary from the new season and instead, decided to leave the club. He spent 12 years at the club and made 545 appearances for United. He has won eight major trophies, including the Premier League and the Europa League.
