Fantasy Premier League 2023-24: Top Captain picks for Gameweek 02

One of the top favorites to pick up the armband for Gamweek 02 is Erling Haaland. The last season’s highest goal-scorer netted two goals in an away trip to Burnley. The Norwegian striker will play against Newcastle at Etihad and he can find a brace after winning the Super Cup trophy in mid-week. His ownership currently stands at a staggering 90.5 per cent. He should be the first choice for the captain in FPL.

Insidesport

Joining Man City’s Erling Haaland will be Mo Salah who was in a good rythum last season despite a disappointing season by Liverpool. The Egyptian can be a game-changer and his chances to earn more points are higher. Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield and they are a front-foot team. He was solid against Chelsea and made two solid goal chances but missed out. It’s an opportunity to find the goal at home.

Arsenal’s surprise package Eddie Nketiah will be our third choice who was instrumental for the Gunners in a title-challenging season. He replaced Gabriel Jesus in the winter and kept Arsenal’s hopes high in Premier League. Gunners will meet Crystal Palace and it should be a chance for the Englishman to score at Selhurst Park.

James Maddison will be our fourth choice as captain. Tottenham signed him in the summer from Leicester City. Despite a horror show from the Foxes, the Englishman was excellent. He made two assists in his debut game against Brentford. Harry Kane’s departure give him a chance to sign on the biggest stage. Tottenham would look to see his version in a difficult game against Man United.

Differential picks for Gameweek 02

Insidesport

Kaoru Mitoma stands at the top among the Differential picks. The Brighton midfielder provided one assist in the opening game against Luton Town. He is great at dribbling and provides opportunities in scoring goals. The Japanese was instrumental for the Seagulls last season to earn their maiden European qualification.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson makes a surprise entry to differential picks. He made his debut against Liverpool and impressed against a tight defence of Virgil van Dijk. It helped him to earn a place in Posch’s starting XI against West Ham. He made four shots (two on target) in the last game and he is a player to watch out for.
