Former Man United, Man City star Carlos Tevez rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pain

After playing for top clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus, and Boca Juniors Tevez retired in 2021

Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker, Carlos Tevez, has been hospitalized after experiencing chest pains. The Argentine football legend spent a night at a clinic in Buenos Aires’ San Isidro neighbourhood, with additional tests scheduled for Wednesday at a nearby hospital. Tevez, 40, is currently the head coach of the Argentine Primera División team Independiente.

Why was Carlos Tevez hospitalized?

According to a statement from C.A. Independiente, Tevez was hospitalized on Tuesday after seeking medical attention for chest pains. The club mentioned that the initial tests at La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro were “satisfactory” and that they would provide further updates on his condition as they become available.

A statement from the club read: “Our coach, Carlos Tevez, went to the La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro with chest pain. They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory. Today he will continue with a series of tests scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up.”

A further statement from Independiente added: “Carlos Tevez will be hospitalised as a precaution until the corresponding tests are completed.” Tevez is set to undergo more testing for the issue.

While local media in Argentina suggest that the health scare might be stress-related, Tevez has not made any official comments on the matter. It is known that he suffers from high blood pressure and regularly undergoes medical examinations.

When will he be discharged?

Independiente has a training session scheduled for later on Wednesday, but it is uncertain whether Tevez will be able to attend. Additional medical evaluations will be conducted at the Finochietto Hospital in Buenos Aires. As he recovers, the club is expected to offer more information about his health.

Tevez had an illustrious career, playing for top clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus, and Boca Juniors, as well as representing the Argentina national team. After retiring from professional football in 2021, he transitioned to coaching, starting at Rosario Central and later moving to Independiente. The Argentine club is set to return to domestic competition on May 12, with a match against Talleres Cordoba on their schedule.
