Ronaldo, who saw himself benched in the last few games at Qatar World Cup, was not very pleased with the treatment by his previous manager Fernando Santos. Santos was sacked by Portugal after the World Cup and was replaced by former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez.
Martinez claimed that Ronaldo will be the leader of the team and will be a part of the team ahead of Euro 2024. However, Ronaldo’s former club teammate Bruno Fernandes doesn’t really agree with Ronaldo and claimed that the atmosphere in the “team has always been good.”
He said, “No, it’s just a new coach with new ideas. There is no breath of fresh air at all. It’s just a transition period. The atmosphere in the national team has always been good. There’s never been anything that wasn’t fresh of the air, so I think it’s just new dynamics, new coach, and you have to assimilate his ideas.”
Clarifying on the tone of the words, Fernandes took to Instagram and dropped a comment on a post. He wrote, “My folks don’t want to create problems where there are none. Do your job seriously, don’t want to decontext what I said and write to your liking just to get clicks on your site.”

He further added, “We all know that Portuguese journalism is rotten when it comes to clubs, but at least in the national team they try to go the same way just like we do on the field together with a lot of joy and seriousness. I leave this comment to give you even more attention than you wanted but to do your job better!”
Speculations were that Bruno Fernandes and Ronaldo are not on good terms now after Ronaldo’s dramatic exit from Manchester United. But, the negative talks were crushed down, when the two were playing the first game of the Euro 2024 qualifier where Ronaldo hugged Fernandes after scoring the goal, which the midfielder assisted.
