Joao Cancelo Transfer: Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, who is out on loan with Bayern Munich, might return to Premier League next season with a new club. According to journalist Steve Bates, Cancelo’s time at Manchester City is “definitely over”, after a fallout with manager Pep Guardiola. Notably, Cancelo was signed by Manchester City from Juventus for £60m in the summer of 2019. Follow Football LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Bates revealed that Arsenal may be among the top Premier League clubs interested in signing Manchester City’s defender during the upcoming summer transfer window. Reports have suggested that he is already dissatisfied with life at the German club and is looking to join Europe’s heavyweights this summer.

Reports have also emerged that Barcelona is keen to get the Portugal international. Cancelo was offered to the Catalans in January but the club couldn’t go any further with his signing due to fair play.

Bates state that given Arsenal’s limited options at right-back, Cancelo could be an excellent signing for the Gunners. Notably, Bayern has the option to buy Cancelo at the end of the season for £ 60 million but the German club does not intend to take it up.

“I’ve seen reports that Bayern Munich may not pursue him at the end of the loan deal.

“They don’t have an agreement obligating them to sign him, and if he’s not pulling up any trees at the moment, then I can’t see them pushing ahead with that.

“Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with him and there’s no doubt that if he was to be sold by Manchester City, then a lot of Premier League clubs in the top four or five would definitely be after him, as would many of the top clubs in Europe”, Bates revealed.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old will face his parent club Manchester City in the quarterfinal of the Champions League in April.
