If convicted, Haaland could face a £200 fine and six penalty points on his driving license. The alleged incident occurred on March 15th in close proximity to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland Caught Breaking Traffic Laws
In the event that the driver obtained their license within the previous two years, it can be withdrawn upon being caught.
Safety organizations also condemned Haaland, who earns £375,000 per week and has scored 42 goals in 37 matches for Manchester City.
According to an AA representative, “There’s no excuse for it, it’s a clear violation. Holding a phone while driving is hazardous, and for someone as skilled as Haaland in scoring goals, this is undoubtedly an own goal.”
The laws concerning mobile phone usage while driving were made more stringent in March 2022.
A 2020 RAC report discovered that one-third of drivers viewed other drivers using their mobile phones while driving as one of their primary safety worries.
Last year’s statistics disclosed that in 2020, 17 people perished, and 499 others sustained injuries in collisions where the driver was using their mobile phone.
