Chelsea Stamford Bridge: Chelsea has been facing some issues lately and poor results are not the only ones. The club might be forced to change its name if they want to change its stadium. The current owners are looking for some redevelopments at the club and replacing Stamford Bridge with a new home stadium is one of them. Other London-based clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspurs, and West Ham have already done so and have switched to new stadiums. However, the case with Chelsea is unique and the way out of Stamford Bridge looks unlikely. Follow Premier League News Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Stamford Bridge is owned by thousands of fans in shares. The Chelsea Pitch Owners PLC (CPO) has a major hold on whether the team can move and continue with its historic name. Moreover, approval from the group is mandatory is the club wants to remain under the name ‘Chelsea’.
In order to control the stadium, the current Chelsea owners will have to acquire it as the CPO also own the freehold to the ground. However, this part is the trickiest. Former Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich took an attempt in 2012 but the offer was rejected by the shareholders.
The fans remain undivided on the issue as some are keen to upgrade their home to keep up with the likes of Arsenal and Spurs. Whereas, some fans believe Stamford Bridge is Chelsea’s identity. Chelsea have been playing their home matches at Stamford Bridge since 1905.

This is not the only issue for Todd Bohely and Chelsea as the club is yet to find its winning streak this season. Chelsea are currently placed in the 2nd half of the table and most probably will not be playing European football next season. The club sacked Graham Potter and has appointed Frank Lampard as interim manager for the rest of the season.
Julian Naglesmann, Luis Enrique, Antonio Conte, and Carlo Ancelotti are the names linked with Chelsea’s managerial role.
