Chelsea FC: Chelsea finds themselves in a situation where they need to offload high profile players to avoid breaching financial rules after their club owner Todd Boehly splashed out £600 million in the current season. The Blues have the large squad in the Premier League as head coach Graham Potter admitted on Friday that the club will certainly offload players in the summer to comply with Financial Fair Play rules. The club recorded a loss of £153.4million in the year ending 2021, as under Premier League rules, clubs are permitted to lose £105 million over any three year period, moreover UEFA could penalize the club under the Fair Play rules, as they need to raise £150 million to £200 million through player sale.
Players such as Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Hakim Ziyech are tipped to depart from the club in the summer. Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, and Loftus-Cheek have entered their last 18 months of their contract earning £150,000, £180,000 and £150,000 a week deal.
Moroccan Hakim Ziyech is under contract until 2025 earns £120,00 a week is s surplus requirement. Moreover, first choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who collects £200,000 a week is another name on the list of departures.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount has been making headlines in the recent weeks with his links with Liverpool. The Chelsea academy graduate approaching final 12 months at the club and yet to agree on his new deal, however, the club is ready to offload the player if he continues to refuse their offers, although head coach Potter wants to keep the England International, but it is out of his hands.

‘That is the challenge we have,’ says the Chelsea boss, ‘We have a big squad, a deep squad with a lot of really good players. These things are really complicated because it’s not about my opinion. It’s about the player, the club, lots of things I am not in control of.’
‘All I can do is give my opinion of Mason as a footballer and a person and I have nothing but positive things to say about him.’
On the other hand, the club are facing a huge challenge on the dark future of Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at Inter Milan reportedly wants to stay at Inter, however, Inter CEO Bappe Moratta stated they won’t extend the Belgian’s stay at San Siro beyond this season.
Lukaku is Chelsea’s highest earner with £325,000 a week, costed club record £97 million transfer fee in 2021.
‘He needs to finish the season well and then we have a decision to make,’ said Potter ‘He is someone I like a lot and I admire a lot but it’s something we have to talk about in the summer.’
