Let’s see who are the potential contender to replace Antonio Conte ahead of the new season:
Julian Nagelsmann
Julian Nagelsmann is a fresh name who was recently sacked by Bayern despite good results in Germany. He won the Bundesliga title last year and took his side into the Champions League quarterfinals. Nagelsmann was considered once for Tottenham in place of Mourinho but he went to Bayern. The former Bayern coach can be the first priority for the club. They were stuck on Tuchel but Tuchel joined Bayern Munich.
Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is the former Tottenham coach and currently, he is free to take the role again. He left his position at PSG at the end of last season. He made a departure from Tottenham in 2019 after failing to win a trophy during his five-and-a-half-year spell. He guided Tottenham to a memorable Champions League final in 2019. Tottenham may trust on him considering his good numbers at the club.
Roberto De Zerbi
De Zerbi is impressive in his debut season with Brighton. He replaced Graham Potter who joined Chelsea in September. Brighton are doing great this season and they are fighting for the European qualification. His side are also in the FA Cup semifinals so he might win them a trophy as well. He might be considered in the summer.
Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique is a surprising name but he is favourite of Tottenham’s sporting director Fabio Paratici. The 52-year-old has managed Barcelona earlier and the Spanish football team. He can try a new segment of football with his coaching style. He has no experience in England and Tottenham would consider this part.
Ryan Mason
Ryan Mason is an option now but he can be tried as a permanent solution. He will support new acting head coach Cristian Stellini for the remainder of the season. Mason handled the job when Mourinho was sacked in 2020-21. Even Conte and Stellini have backed him to become a manager. Spurs can look at his caliber to make a surprise promotion in the summer.
At present, Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann are the frontrunners. If they deny, then Tottenham will go for De Zerbi. Tottenham will play the next game without Conte on April 03. They are fighting for the top-four finish and remaining games will be crucial for them.
