The statement read: “PGMOL will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield.”

Following the half-time whistle, Robertson approached the official, Constantine Hatzidakis, to express his displeasure. Before the linesman seemed to elbow the defender near his jawline, the Scotland international grabbed his arm. In the aftermath, referee Paul Tierney booked Robertson. There was no action taken at halftime, and the assistant continued to run the line in the second half, with the game concluding in a 2-2 tie.

The PGMOL issued a statement on Monday announcing that the assistant referee will not be assigned to any games while The Football Association’s inquiry is ongoing. Hatzidakis was also an assistant referee for Liverpool’s game against Tottenham Hotspur last season. In which Robertson was enraged by the decision not to book Harry Kane for a foul on him, before eventually seeing red himself.
The incident on Sunday came only weeks after Fulham striker Alexandar Mitrovic was sent off for putting his hands on referee Chris Kavanagh during their FA Cup loss to Manchester United. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated after the game that he did not witness the event but had heard that “something happened.”
