Barcelona Referee Scandal: La Liga Live: In a shocking development, the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia claimed that La Liga President Javier Tebas has sent false evidence against FC Barcelona in the Negreira case to the Public Prosecutor’s office. The newspaper further reported that Tebas did this to directly attempt to embroil former FC Barcelona president Joseph Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell for alleged crimes of unfair administration and misappropriation. According to the report, Tebas used a document handwritten by Josep Contreras, ex-director of FC Barcelona already deceased. However, according to the Contreras family, the document did not contain the names of the mentioned former Barca Presidents. Therefore, the letter Tebas allegedly provided to the prosecutor’s Office is irrational and has nothing to do with the ‘Negreira case’ in which the Catalan club has been charged.
Tebas presented the document to the prosecutors on 22nd February in a bid that Barcelona could be implicated in the bribery and corruption case.
Barcelona has released a strong statement in response to an article that alleged LaLiga president Javier Tebas presented false evidence, as the club demands an explanation from Tebas. Barcelona on their official website reads, ‘Given the gravity of the information that has appeared today Monday in La Vanguardia in which the La Liga president Javier Tebas is linked to the presentation of false evidence to the public prosecutor to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to expresses its deepest indignation, anger and dismay.’
‘For that reason, we require the La Liga president urgently to appear in public to explain himself, beyond the tweet sent in the early hours by Mr.Tebas, lacking study and with a threatening veneer.’

The Blaugrana club also mentioned all the La Liga clubs coming together and demanded the Tebas’s resignation, stating ‘The article published today by La Vanguardia is of such gravity that it should put all the clubs in La Liga on alert, given that is talks of practices which are in no way consistent with the job of the president of La Liga.
‘If only for this fact, that of giving himself powers that do not belong to him, although also for reasons of dignity and respect for the presidency of La Liga, Mr.Tebas should resign his post. Nevertheless, aware of his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and showing his constant averse and manifest dislike of our Club, we understand that the current La Liga president will persist in his efforts to keep damaging our club.’
Alongside Former Barca presidents Bartomeu and Rosell, former club CEO and director of professional sports Oscar Grau and Albert Soler respectively are the notable names in the charged case. However, reports of El Mundo suggests, Barcelona have asserted that the payment from 2001 and 2018 totaling more than $7 million were legal payments on consultation work.
