Barcelona Financial Crisis: Barcelona is gearing up to let go of some big players in order to save millions in wages to buy new players in the summer transfer window. According to reports, the club needs to cut approx €200 million to meet La Liga’s salary regulations. The Catalans have previously activated a fourth economic lever to comply with the rules, but they are now considering selling some of their players. One player who could bear the brunt is left-back Jordi Alba, who is owed €38m next year. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN
The club is unable to register Gavi, Sergi Roberto, and Ronald Araujo, due to their crunch financial situation. La Liga President Javier Tebas has also warned that Barcelona is banned from making any new signings until they comply with the salary cap rules. The club’s current salary limit is €684m, which is significantly higher than the €450m they need to meet to spend this summer.
The situation has forced manager Xavi to look for new players to strengthen the squad for European competitions. Barcelona has also been linked with a potential reunion with Lionel Messi.

Jordi Alba’s potential departure from Barcelona would mark the end of an era for the club. The 32-year-old has been a mainstay in the team for nearly a decade, making 451 appearances for the La Liga giants, winning many domestic and international trophies. However, with the club’s financial struggles, Alba’s departure looks certain.
Apart from Alba, the future of Ansu Fati is also on the edge as the club feels that the youngster has not been the same since recovering from injury. Names of Raphinha and Ferran Torres have also reportedly been named in Barcelona’s summer selling list but it will be interesting to see who will depart from the club next season.
