Ansu Fati Transfer: Ansu Fati burst into the scene in 2019 when he became FC Barcelona’s youngest goalscorer at the age of 16 years and 298 days. He quickly registered his name in many record books for his achievements such as being La Liga’s third-youngest scorer, also the league’s youngest player to assist and score in the same match, and many more. His rise in the club led to the club handing him Leo Messi’s No.10 shirt after the talisman’s departure in 2021. However, now at the age of 20, the La Masia product finds it hard to break into head coach Xavi’s starting lineup, as his father Bori Fati has now revealed he has encouraged his son to leave Barcelona due to lack of game time. Bori Fati: “When Barça were much worse than they are now, they forced Ansu Fati to come back from injury to play. They used to want Ansu to make the people happy again. Now that he’s 100% fit and ready, nobody wants Ansu?” 🔵🔴🧨 #FCB

Fati Sr. also revealed he would meet his son’s agent Jorge Mendes in the coming weeks with talks of Ansu’s future in the discussion. The 20-year-old’s contract at Barcelona runs until the summer of 2027 with an option to extend for two years. Ansu has had a tough time with injuries, previously his serious knee injury in November 2020, changed the course of his progress at the club, as his return in September 2021 since then hasn’t been smooth as various muscle issues have hurt him at crucial times. Under Xavi’s management, he has struggled to get into the starting eleven, making nine starts in the league this season and making further 15 appearances off the bench.
Lack of game time has triggered Ansu Fati’s father Bori Fati to direct questions to Barcelona coach Xavi for not handing sufficient minutes to Ansu, in an interview on the Spanish radio station Cadena cope, Fati Sr urges, ‘Good question, ask him,’
‘I don’t have an answer for that either and he as a coach will have his reasons. Maybe he thinks he lacks things like defending and I understand that.’
He revealed Ansu is determined to succeed in the club, as the Catalan club insists Ansu is part of the club’s plans, he says, ‘At Barca they tell me that they have bet a lot on Ansu, they tell me that clearly,’
However, Bori wants Ansu to leave Barcelona, but his son insists on staying, ‘If it was up to me, I would take him [to another team], but [Ansu] wants to stay at Barcelona,’ he said on the radio show.
He also stated, ‘As a dad, I think differently, maybe I am wrong. He is your franchise player, the No. 10, he took [that number] on when no one was ready to take it from [Lionel] Messi.’
‘What annoys me is how they’re treating him in terms of minutes. One minute, two, three… I am not asking for him to be a starter whatever because all the forwards at the club are phenomenal, but we are talking about Ansu Fati, of Spain and Barcelona, who came through La Masia… if you don’t give him [a chance], who will you?’
Bori admitted he often thinks of Sevlla, where the family moved to from Guinea-Bissau, while he also claimed a move to arch-rivals Real Madrid is not off the table in the future.
‘I think a lot about Sevilla, about going home,’ Bori said. ‘Right now I wouldn’t value an offer from Madrid, because Ansu wouldn’t accept it. I can’t put Ansu where he doesn’t want to. ‘
‘But I will never speak ill of Madrid because they are two clubs very big and you never know what the world is going to bring you.’
‘You never know where it is going to take you.’
According to reports claimed last month, agent Jorge Mendes has been looking for potential suitors for Fati for seeking regular first-team football.
