India Tri-Nation Friendly: The Indian men’s football team on Tuesday arrived in Manipur for the Hero Tri-Nation tournament, starting on Wednesday (March 22) at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, Manipur. This will be the first international game of the Indian football team in 2023. The Indian men’s football team played their last international friendly match against Vietnam, which ended in a 0-3 defeat. The tournament can be seen as a preparation for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup which will begin in January next year in Qatar.
According to the latest FIFA rankings, India ranks at 106, while Myanmar and Kyrgyz Republic are ranked 159 and 94, respectively.
India’s head coach, Igor Stimac, has named a 23-member squad and ten reserves. Among them, senior goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, defender Sandesh Jhingan, midfielders Jeakson Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte, and Bengaluru FC ace Sunil Chhetri were included.

Recently, defender Pritam Kotal and forward Naorem Mahesh Singh were called up to the Indian camp in Kolkata to replace Sivasakthi Narayanan and Glan Martins, who were initially selected but later dropped due to injuries.
