Gary Lineker BBC: Former English striker Gary Lineker might continue to host the ‘Match of the Day’ on BBC after his ‘Nazi’ comments on the new Immigration Bill. Lineker has been in the spotlight this week after comparing the new immigration policy to Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Now Lineker has cleared things a little via Twitter. He wrote, “Well, it’s been an interesting couple of days. Happy that this ridiculously out of proportion story seems to be abating and very much looking forward to presenting @BBCMOTD on Saturday. Thanks again for all your incredible support. It’s been overwhelming.”

Lineker has been hosting BCC Match of the Day since 1990s but his seat was at a risk after the remarks he made. Lineker reacted to the new immigration policy and wrote, “Good heavens, this is beyond awful.” He then added, “There is no huge influx. We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries. This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the ’30s.”

After this many people asked Lineker to be removed from his job. The BBC responded to that and said they will be having a frank conversation with the presenter. Earlier, BBC have warned their staff about the use of social media and asked them to follow the editorial guidelines as when doing BBC content. Notably, Lineker is a Freelance broadcaster for the media company, not a permanent member or staff.

Moreover, Piers Morgan has also come in support of the former Three Lions player saying that he is not a political reporter. Now, seems like the former Leicester City striker will be hosting this week’s Match of the day show. If things go well Lineker will be seen continuing the show and will be presenting the matches, Bournemouth vs Liverpool, Leicester vs Chelsea, and Crystal Palace vs Manchester City.
