Dele Alli Besiktas: ‘Banished’ Everton loanee goes AWOL from Besiktas training, manager bizarrely claims ‘it’s because of the rain in Turkey’ – Check Out
Poor performances have plagued his Turkish season, and Gunes has been unimpressed; the midfielder was initially anticipated to rejoin Everton in the summer. Yet in the most recent twist to the story, his management now asserts that the club is having problems contacting him. It happens only a week after Alli was told to sit out the rest of the season and was expelled from the team.
🦅🫣 Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş: “We gave Dele Alli permission for a small break, he hasn’t come back yet. It’s raining, that’s probably why he didn’t come. We’re trying to find out where he is.” (AA Spor) pic.twitter.com/y35alccpGH

However, Alli disputes this, stating that the club had authorised his return to London for a doctor’s appointment, according to the player’s reps. Alli, who was given permission to take some time off from training, might not have come back to the club “because it’s raining,” according to Gunes, who also expressed his hope that Alli hadn’t been in an accident.
‘Dele Alli could not come at this time. It’s raining, I guess that’s why he couldn’t come. We’re trying To hear from him . We could not reach you by phone. Hopefully he didn’t have an accident.’ Senol Gunes said.

After a terrible loan season in which Alli was benched for their last two games due to poor play, Besiktas decided not to exercise their £8 million signing option. Asserting that Alli “doesn’t deserve to play,” Gunes had criticised the midfielder back in January. In November, after taking the Englishman off against Umraniyespor at halftime, the Besiktas manager openly criticised the player for his lacklustre performances.
Since the beginning of 2023, he has only appeared for 254 minutes and hasn’t played since February 26, when he participated for 45 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Antalyaspor. He made a social media post in December promising to keep going and saying that football had “saved” him.
