According to the German newspaper BILD, the Bavarian dressing room is divided into Pro and Anti Nagelsmann groups, as seven players desperately wanted the 35-year-old to lose his job, however, there are a number of key members on the German coach’s side.

The public spat between Nagelsmann and goalie Neuer made headlines for several weeks after the coach axed goalkeeping coach Tony Tapalovic after almost 12 years at the club. Speaking last month, Neuer described his pain of losing his close companion at the club as his ‘heart ripped open’ after the news about Topalovic. Therefore it was obvious of Neuer against the former Leipzig manager continuing at Allianz Arena. Moreover, his German goalkeeping peer Sven Ulreich joins the list with Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Joao Cancelo, and Sadio Mane against the manager.

However, players like  Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, and Benjamin Pavard wanted the 35-year-old to stay. On the other hand, Thomas Muller is the one player who had a neutral stand on the decision, reports BILD.

Nagelsmann discovered his sacking at his skiing trip with his 30-year-old partner Lena Wurzenberger in Austria and had to cut short his holiday and raced back. Later, the Bayern Munich hierarchy replaced the 35-year-old manager by unveiling Thomas Tuchel on Saturday.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Tuchel showed his respect for his predecessor, stating, ‘I can certainly empathize with him, but it’s not my responsibility. Contact with him? Certainly not right away’

He added, ‘I don’t want to be disrespectful. It doesn’t help me to have his point of view now either. At some point our paths will cross and we’ll talk.’

The former Chelsea manager, who previously managed Dortmund in his last job in Germany, will start proceedings at Bayern Munich this term against his old employers at the Der Klassiker as Bayern eye for the pole position in the League. Interestingly, the last time Tuchel joined a club in the middle of the campaign he went on to win the Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea, so is it happening again for Tuchel?
