It has been confirmed that pots were assigned based on FIFA rankings and not seeding in relation to Asian Cup qualification performance. Uzbekistan and Jordan are the two teams who got an advantage as they were promoted into Pot 2 in place of Syria and Vietnam due to better FIFA rankings.

Pot 1 comprises the titleholders of the Asian Cup, Qatar, along with Japan, Iran, Korea, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
Pot 2 includes Iraq, UAE, Oman, Uzbekistan, China, and Jordan.
Pot 3 contains Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Vietnam, Kyrgyz, and Lebanon.
India is placed in Pot 4 in the draw along with Tajik, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Notably, the teams who qualify from the second qualification round are assigned Pot 1 & Pot 2, while the exact pot is decided on the FIFA Ranking of the team.The draw will see one team from each pot drawn into a group. There will be a total of six groups of four.
The proposed tournament dates are set between January 12 to February 10, 2024. The final dates of the competition will be announced later this year after confirmation from FIFA. India drawing in Pot 4 means that they will face stronger teams on paper than them
Notably, this will be the Indian football team’s sixth appearance in the Asian Cup. India made a strong start in the 2019 AFC Asian, but a last-minute penalty in their final group match against Bahrain cost them a spot in the knockout rounds. With their experience and past achievements, fans will be looking forward to seeing India win the coveted title.
