Erling Haaland Injury: Premier League Live Updates: Premier League title contenders Manchester City are currently 8 points behind table toppers Arsenal. The gap might become large as their star striker Erling Haaland is doubtful for the game against Liverpool. Manchester City will need Haaland with full fitness in order to bag all those three points and reduce the gap. Haaland, who missed his international matches, has now been absent from the team training. Follow Premier League Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
The Norwegian striker sustained a minor groin injury in the last game against Burnley. In the FA Cup game, Haaland scored a hat-trick to help City enter the next round with a scoreline of 6-0. After that, he joined the Norway team for the Euro 2024 qualifier game but didn’t feature in them due to the injury.
The striker returned to Manchester on Sunday and has been absent from a full squad session. City will not be taking any risk to play him against Liverpool without having any training sessions. As the player has missed two weeks of football, Guardiola won’t be preferring to feature him in the squad.
Haaland’s father said the same in an interview, “You can’t go two weeks without training, then jump into a fight. There must be a progression there. They can gamble on it — but if he doesn’t get proper training with the team, then he won’t play.”
Haaland has scored 28 goals in 25 Premier League appearances this season. This has been one of the most explosive stat of the season by any striker in the world.
Breaking: Erling Haaland will be assessed ahead of #ManCity vs Liverpool after 4PM today – when Pep Guardiola takes his final training session ahead of Liverpool, the manager has confirmed.

In order to defeat Arsenal in the title race, City will need Haaland’s influence on the pitch in the remaining 11 games. City will face Liverpool on Saturday and then Southampton next week. As there are no games midweek, they can choose to drop Haaland in order to help him gain full fitness by the weekend. City will face, what will be probably their toughest challenge of the season, Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final on 11th April.
