West Ham United will be extremely determined to end their 40-year long trophy drought. As they ended their Premier League season in the 14th place this season, this will be their only chance to qualify for any European competition next season. They will be determined to win on the back of a fully fit squad.

It has been 43 years since West Ham United have won a silverware. The last one they won has been the FA Cup back in 1980. The last European title won by the team came in 1965 which was the European Cup – Winners’ Cup. They came close to winning silverware many times in this time, like getting knocked out of the Europa League semi-final last season. However, they have not won a single trophy in over four decades now. Hence, they will be quite determined this Wednesday.

This has also been a disastrous season for them in the Premier League. They ended the season in 14th place in the Premier League table. They also lost the last league game against Leicester City who have been relegated this season to The Championship. Hence, for next season in the league, they will have to focus on performing better to qualify for European competition. However, for this season, they will have to put all of their eggs into this basket for next year’s European competition.

Winning the title will not only end their 4 decade-long trophy drought, but it will also get them an entry to next year’s Europa League group stage. They are the competition’s second-highest goalscorers behind their opponent Fiorentina. They also have not won any of the games this season in this competition. Michail Antonio has been their top goalscorer for the side this season. He has scored 6 goals this season out of the 27 they have scored in total. Hence, he will surely lead the attack for the side.

Both Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek served together at Slavia Prague. Hence, they are both very much familiar with the Fortuna Arena which is Slavia Prague’s home ground. Whereas, Bowen, Paqueta, and Benrahma could be forming the attack line that help Antonio in the attacks.
