FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Mario Balotelli returns to the Italy national team
And for the first time since September 2018, Balotelli has been called up by his country. Balotelli joined Turkish Süper Lig side Adana Demirspor in the summer of 2021 and has performed well for the club, with nine goals in 21 appearances so far.
Whether he will be in the full squad for the play-offs remains to be seen, but his strong relationship with Mancini means he has a good chance. The other interesting name on the 35-man list is 29-year-old Cagliari forward João Pedro, who earns his first ever senior international call-up having previously been capped for Brazil at U17 level.
