FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Azerbaijan vs Portugal LIVE: preview, predicted XIs, live stream, all you need to know- Portugal will be aiming to restore their place at the top of Group A as they travel to Azerbaijan for the final fixture of September’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The game will be played at the Baku Olympic Stadium and will kick off at 9:30 PM IST on Tuesday, September 7. While Azerbaijan are still on the lookout for their first win, Cristiano Ronaldo less Portugal are aiming to continue their momentum and capitalise on the opportunity.
Azerbaijan have registered only one win in their last 13 games as the world’s 112th-ranked nation remain bottom of the pile with one point to their name. Giovanni De Biasi’s side came close to ending that streak against Ireland, but Shane Duffy’s 87th-minute header meant that Azerbaijan could only share the spoils. The result nonetheless will be a huge boost for the hosts, who will have their backs against the wall in this game.

Portugal WC Qualifiers: An own goal from Maksim Medvedev was all that could separate Azerbaijan and Portugal in a 1-0 win for the Selecao back in March, and this week’s visitors have now won their last five in a row against their opponents without shipping a single goal. Fernando Santos’ side had to rely on the goal scoring heroics of Cristiano Ronaldo to claim a late win over Ireland, which was not enough to seal a top spot in the table.
