ARGENTINA: Argentina appears to be a very closely knit unit and they will be desperate to give it their all in what is certainly Lionel Messi’s last World Cup. They are placed in a tricky Group C comprising Mexico, Poland, and Saudi Arabia but the Argentines are certainly the favourites on paper to qualify as group toppers.

If all their core players stay fit for the World Cup, the La Albiceleste could go all the way and clinch their third World Cup title.

PORTUGAL: Well, just like Argentina, the Portuguese players have a lot at stake to fight for. This is most certainly Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World and the players will be desperate to ensure that the G.O.A.T bids goodbye to World Cup football on a high.

However, Portugal is not just about Ronaldo. They have been one of the top international teams in the recent past and with a core comprising superstars like Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Bruno Fernandes, and Bernardo Silva among others, the Portuguese are definitely one of the strongest teams on paper.

GERMANY: The four-time champions and the winners of the 2014 edition, Germany had a tournament to forget four years back in Russia. The Germans were eliminated from the group stage itself and since then, their squad has been revamped under new manager Hansi Flick.

As they always say, never count the Germans out because they always seem to perform on the biggest stage. From veterans like Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller to youngsters like Kimmich, Musiala, Gnabry, and Sane, the German team has a perfect mixture of youth and experience – exactly what it takes to win the World Cup.

FRANCE: The reigning champions have a supremely strong squad once again and could very well replicate their feat from four years back. Keeping that aside, France potentially has the strongest squad on paper and anything short of a Final will be a disappointment for the Les Blues.
