The amount has been the same since the Brazil World Cup back in 2014. This system of heavy compensation was first set up back in 2010 with European Club Associations. The application for the allotted money started being accepted on Tuesday, 11th October. 832 players will be on leave from club duties.

The preparations for World Cup are to start on the 14th of February, the tournament is to finish on the December 18th. The club that has been nurturing the player for the past two years will be eligible for the 10000 dollars each day compensation. If the player has changed clubs in the past two years, the money will be distributed among the clubs accordingly.

European clubs are the largest employers of World Cup-going players. Almost 75% of the players going to the Qatar World Cup play for European Clubs. Hence, UEFA too has a very similar fund to FIFA. The approximate fund money for UEFA is 200 million euros which are about 6 million short of FIFA.

This fund compensates the clubs whose players play in the UEFA Euro Cup. The English Club Chelsea was the biggest beneficiary of this fund in the 2020 Euro. They got a whopping 5.1 million Euro compensation during that tournament.

The Payment scheme will rise up in the upcoming 2026 World Cup held by the USA and Mexico due to the new 48-team rule instead of 32 teams. The compensation money is expected to hike by almost 50% alongside FIFA’s expanding revenue through more ticket sells and sponsorship.
