On the other hand, Germany made a stunning comeback into the game but that was not enough. Despite a 4-2 win over Costa Rica, Germany are KNOCKED OUT of the tournament. In the previous games, Croatia played a goalless draw with Belgium. This means that Croatia makes it to the next stage while Belgium is KNOCKED OUT. Japan 2-1 Spain 

Japan rallied from a goal down in the second half to defeat Spain 2-1 on Thursday and advance to the World Cup knockout stages as group champions. Despite their defeat, Spain joins Japan in the round of 16 on goal difference, thanks to Germany’s victory over Costa Rica in the group’s other game.

Japan’s stunning win over Spain was enough for the Asian side to top Group E while Spain goes through as the second placed team in the group.
