Davies, a forward for Canada, missed the German club’s past two Bundesliga games after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier this month, ripping a muscle fibre in his right rear thigh. Davies is Canada’s most visible player, having appeared in 34 games and scoring 12 goals.

CF Montreal goalie James Pantemis will take Crepeau’s spot as Canada’s third goalkeeper, behind Milan Borjan of Red Star Belgrade and Dayne St. Clair of Minnesota United. Joel Waterman of Montreal was also called up after making his debut for Canada against Bahrain. Derek Cornelius, the Vancouver Whitecaps centre defender who began his career on loan at Greek first division club Panetolikos, completes the defensive adjustments.

CF Montreal will send the most Canadian players to the World Cup, with six. Pantemis is joined on the Canadian MLS squad by Alistair Johnston, Kamal Miller, Joel Waterman, Samuel PIette, and Ismael Kone.
