Torres is set to leave the Etihad Stadium just 18 months after the Premier League club bought him for just under £21m from Valencia. Manchester City will be getting nearly triple the amount for which they bought the Spanish international and with that Torres would be City’s most expensive sale ever. Tough Torres is currently recovering from a minor foot fracture incurred with Spain in the Nations League. He’s already back in training and if things don’t take a major turnaround, he could make his debut against Linares or Granada in January.
According to SPORT’s journalist Toni Juanmarti, “Torres’ former Valencia will earn around €4.95M from the transfer of the Spaniard to FC Barcelona because of a clause installed by the Valencia board.”
The La Liga giants have suffered serious financial problems this year and the move could yet take some time to complete given the arrival of Torres would take Barca over their salary cap limit. Barcelona would need to offload some of their first team players in the upcoming January transfer window to make space for the Spaniard.
