Reportedly, at the end of the match, Los Blancos midfielder Federico Valverde waited for Villareal midfielder, Alex Baena in the parking lot and punched him. After Federico Valverde punched Baena, he decided to take legal steps and involve the police in the matter. When Valverde was asked about his actions, he said that Baena commented on his wife’s pregnancy scare in January and he did it again during their match a few days ago. As per Valverde, Baena said, “Cry now that your son is not going to be born.”
Baena denied all allegations accusing him of such comments. He also took to social media to say, “…very sad about the aggression I suffered after the match and surprised by what is being said about me. IT IS TOTALLY UNTRUE THAT I SAID THAT.” Additionally, there is video evidence that could turn out to be Valverde’s undoing in the case.
The matter has now spread everywhere and people might have tried to reach Valverde and his family about the matter. It is also hard dealing with the scare of losing one’s child. Now the matter becoming everyone’s fodder for controversy has started taking it’s toll on Valverde’s wife Mina Bonino who has taken to social media to release an emotional statement after the incident.
She wrote in the emotional post, “Do I have to explain why they told me that my pregnancy could not continue? We were silent for almost two months waiting for the result to know whether or not we could continue, having already five months of pregnancy.”

She added, “I have already gone through enough for them to come and question me about my son’s health. Despite everything, from the bottom of my heart, I don’t wish anyone to go through a similar situation.” Fortunately, she recently posted a picture saying she is six months into the pregnancy and reports say that the child is healthy.
Valverde has not received any sporting punishment as of yet and will possibly avoid any immediately. Mainly because Villareal have not reported the incident to the Spanish Football Federation which could have led to a 12-game ban. However, the involvement of the police could see the Anti-Violence Commission of Spain getting involved in the matter.
