Barcelona has apologised for a tweet from one of their spokesman that made light of Vinicius Jr racism in last weekend’s game between Real Madrid and Sevilla. During Real Madrid’s 2-1 triumph against Braga on Tuesday night, Mikel Camps rushed to social media to publish a later-deleted tweet. And now, FC Barcelona has come out to apologize for the tweet.

Mikel Camps takes a dig at Vinicius Jr
Mikel Camps took to twitter to deny that Vinicius Jr had gone through any racist incident vs Sevilla. The now deleted tweet said, ‘It’s not racism, he deserves a slap for being a clown. What do these unnecessary and meaningless stepovers represent in the center of the field?’
The remark by the FC Barcelona official occurred after Vinicius was subjected to racial abuse during the away draw at Sevilla. Vinicius Jr then praised the Spanish club for taking prompt action and banning one of the perpetrators.
The apology then came from FC Barcelona director, Rafa Yuste. He said on Wednesday, ‘If Vinicius is listening to me, I tell him that this will not happen again. Even if it was a slip of the tongue it shouldn’t have happened. It was an unfortunate tweet.’
The statements should help to ease tensions between the two clubs ahead of Saturday’s Clasico. Coach Xavi does not need distractions from a renegade spokesman after making it nine points from nine in the Champions League.
FC Barcelona coach, Xavi said, ‘If he deleted it then that’s that. I don’t like anything that generates tension, whether it’s trying to condition referees or this tweet. We want a Clasico with fair play and mutual respect. I won’t be the person to generate any tension. Asking about these things also creates a bad atmosphere.’

Barca continued their good form in the UCL as they bagged a 2-1 win and have all 9 points from their firs 3 games. FC Barcelona were missing Jules Kounde, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Raphina and Robert Lewandowski for the game. Only the Polish striker is expected to make it to El Clasico this weekend.
FCB will be hoping to overtake Real Madrid this weekend in the La Liga table. A win will see the Blaugrana leapfrog Los Blancos in the table. They are just separated by a single point too. Adding this tweet fuel to the fire, it should be an exciting game.
