Leon Augustine expressed his happiness after scoring the winning goal for Punjab FC against Odisha FC, stating his focus on improving and aiming for the national team.

Punjab FC secures their second consecutive victory, defeating Odisha FC 2-1 in a solid performance during the Indian Super League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. With this win, Punjab FC climbed to second place in the table with six points, while Odisha faced their second loss of the season.

Two Keralites, Nihal Sudeesh and Leon Augustine, sealed the victory for the North Indian club. Nihal Sudeesh netted a brilliant 28th-minute strike, giving Punjab an early lead. Leon Augustine reflects on his winning goal

Following his match-winning performance, Leon Augustine spoke to journalists about the game and his future ambitions.

“Honestly, I’m really happy to score that goal. It feels great to contribute to the team,” Augustine said with a smile. When asked about his goals for the season, he added, “For me, it’s all about improving and helping my team. Hopefully, I can make it to the national team, but for now, I’m just focused on playing better each game.”

Team looks ahead despite Luka Majcen’s absence

The absence of Luka Majcen, Punjab’s captain, has been felt throughout the squad. Augustine commented on the situation, saying, “It’s a big setback for us. Luka’s injury is tough on the team, but we’re sticking together and working hard to make him proud. We know he’ll be back soon.”

Before heading back to the team bus, Augustine had a special message for the Punjab FC fans: “Thank you to all the fans for your support. Please keep coming to the games and supporting us. It really helps push us to win.

With a 2-1 win under their belt and growing momentum, Punjab FC will now focus on maintaining their winning streak as they look ahead to their upcoming fixtures.
